A Year of Growth and Strong Performance for Centralines

Centralines is pleased to announce the release of its 2025 Annual Report, detailing a year of robust performance, notable achievements, and strategic initiatives over the past year. Centralines continued its comprehensive works programme, including planned maintenance and capital projects prioritised through its Asset Management Plan. Despite the efforts relating to the community's continued recovery in the wake of Cyclone Gabrielle, Centralines achieved another record year, delivering the largest annual works programme to date.
Centralines Chair, Fenton Wilson, emphasised the company's support for the Central Hawke’s Bay community. “This has been a fantastic year for Centralines. We’ve delivered strong financial results while continuing to invest in the resilience and future of our electricity network for the long-term benefit of the community.”
Despite a challenging macroeconomic environment, Centralines delivered robust financial results, with an after-tax operating profit of $3.0 million, marking a $0.3 million increase from FY24. Capital expenditure reached $11.1 million, and consumer discounts amounted to $1.4 million.
Centralines has also made substantial progress in its sustainability goals, including the reduction of carbon emissions and the implementation of renewable energy projects. These efforts are aligned with a commitment to environmental stewardship and community well-being. “Our role goes beyond delivering electricity, and we remain committed to supporting the wellbeing, growth, and sustainability of the district, now and into the future,” added Wilson.
Significant investments have been made in upgrading and expanding network infrastructure to ensure the reliability and resilience of the electricity network. These enhancements are crucial for meeting the growing energy demands of customers in Central Hawke’s Bay.
Centralines remains committed to supporting the communities it serves. The report showcases various community engagement activities and partnerships that have been undertaken to foster positive relationships and contribute to local development. Notably Centralines contributed $197,000 in community funding through over 60 sponsorships given to local organisations including sports teams, community events, social services and schools.
"We are proud of the progress we made last year and remain committed to our people and the prosperity of Central Hawke’s Bay. Our annual report also reflects our dedication to financial stability, environmental responsibility, and customer satisfaction,” said Wilson.
Isabelle Crawshaw, Centralines General Manager said, “The safety and wellbeing of our workforce is our top priority. We are proud to have achieved zero lost-time injuries again this year, reflecting our unwavering commitment to maintaining a safe and productive work environment."
"Our focus on innovation and sustainability has positioned us well for the future and we will continue to invest in projects that enhance network resilience, while benefiting our customers and community in the Central Hawke’s Bay district.”
