Background Information

Centralines is 100 percent owned by the Central Hawke’s Bay Consumers Power Trust, on behalf of the power consumers of Central Hawke’s Bay.

The elected Trust oversees the operation of Centralines and, as the owner, receives a dividend which it shares out to all the shareholders of the Trust. Simply by having a power account for a property in Central Hawke’s Bay, you are a shareholder.

Distribution Payment Information

The Trustees of the Central Hawke’s Bay (CHB) Consumers Power Trust have announced that a $905 tax-paid distribution payment will be made to power consumers of Central Hawke’s Bay, following Centralines’ excellent financial results and network performance.

This means all Central Hawke’s Bay power consumers connected to the Centralines network on 31 May 2018 will receive a distribution payment, with cheques mailed out from Wednesday 27 June.

Shareholder information is based on billing data held by electricity retailers.

Q: Why is this payment being made?
A: Due to Centralines’ strong financial position and network performance over recent years, the Central Hawke’s Bay Consumers Power Trust (CHB CPT) has announced a $905 tax-paid distribution to power consumers.

Q: Am I entitled to a distribution payment?
A: All permanent metered supply points (ICPs) connected to Centralines’ Central Hawke's Bay network, and which are liable for a fixed daily charge as at 5pm, 31 May 2018, are entitled to a payment. This information is based on billing data held by electricity retailers.

Note: Builder's temporary supplies, and other unmetered connections such as streetlights, telecommunications devices, and under-veranda lighting are excluded.

Q: We currently receive a discount from Centralines on our power account. Will we continue to receive this discount this year?
A: Yes, you will receive a discount later this year.

Q: When will I receive my distribution cheque?
A: All cheques will be posted out from Wednesday 27 June 2018. Cheques may take up to two weeks to arrive. If you haven’t received your cheque by Wednesday 11 July, please call our Help Desk on 06 858 7770 (during business hours) or email info@centralines.co.nz
 
Q: How will I receive my payment?
A: Letters containing the cheque will be mailed out directly to Central Hawke’s Bay power account holders from Wednesday 27 June 2018.
 
Q: How much will it be?
A: This payment of $905 after tax is the same for all ICP’s (regardless of whether it is a commercial or a domestic installation). 

Q: Will I need to keep my letter for tax purposes?
A: This letter should be retained for tax purposes.

Q: What if I have moved?
A: If you have not placed a redirection order with NZ Post, the cheque will be returned to us. If you have moved to another property in our coverage area, we should be able to locate your forwarding address and re-send the cheque to your new address. Alternatively, if you have moved recently and wish to advise us of your new address, please call us on 06 858 7770 (during business hours) or email info@centralines.co.nz.

Q: Can I get cash?
A: Your cheque must be banked. Once the payment has cleared you will be able to withdraw the money.
 
Q: I’m in a flatting situation, with multiple tenants – who receives the distribution payment?
A: The distribution is applied to the account holder. It is up to the people responsible for the power account to decide how the payment is shared in these instances.
 
Q: I’m in a flatting situation, and my landlord pays for power - who receives the distribution payment?
A: The distribution is applied to the account holder. It is up to the people responsible for the power account to decide how the payment is shared in these instances.
 
Q: What if I have more than one power account – e.g. house + pump + woolshed?
A: You will receive a distribution per power account.
 
Q: Why was a single qualification date chosen?
A: A single fixed date was chosen from which to apply the payment simply because any other option would be virtually impossible to administer, as all data relating to customer eligibility is provided by the electricity retailers.
 
Q: Does it matter when I joined Centralines?
A: So long as your power was "on" (technical term being "energized") as at 5pm, 31 May 2018, you are eligible for the distribution payment. All permanent metered supply points (ICPs) attracting fixed daily charges as at 5pm, 31 May 2018 are entitled to the $905 payment.

Q: What happens if I don't have a bank account?
A: Please discuss this with your local bank.
